According to the “Patent Analysis of Next-Generation Internet Key Technologies” (hereinafter referred to as the “Analysis”) released by the China Intellectual Property Research Association on the 16th in Shenzhen, in the past decade, the global patent applications for next-generation internet technology totaled about 4.17 million, of which China’s applications totaled about 1.71 million, accounting for about 41% of the total.
The “Analysis” states that the current internet is in a period of generational change, and next-generation internet technology is accelerating the empowerment of traditional manufacturing industries, injecting strong momentum for the development of the real economy. The “Analysis” was released at the “2023 Enterprise Technology Innovation Development Forum” held on the same day. The data shows that from 2013 to 2021, in the fields related to next-generation internet key technologies, China’s annual patent application growth rate reached 25.11%, more than twice the global average. Tencent, Huawei, and Innovation Advanced are among the top ten companies in terms of the number of valid patents in related fields.
“Next-generation internet technology is no longer a simple information transmission platform, but a combination of new-generation intelligent technologies, and an important infrastructure for the digital economy.” Li Haizhou, executive dean of the School of Data Science at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), said at the forum that industrial internet will provide new impetus for the digitalization of industries such as industry, manufacturing, logistics, and medical care, and is the focus of next-generation internet technology.
The “Analysis” points out that after long-term development, China’s real economy has provided diversified and “de-virtualized” application scenarios for the digital economy, which in turn has promoted the continuous iteration and upgrading of next-generation internet technology.
