The Quantum Computing Industry Intellectual Property Alliance and the Quantum Computing Establishment Conference, themed "Collaborative Innovation of Intellectual Property and Building the Future of Quantum Computing", was recently held in Beijing. At the conference, Baidu and the Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Science jointly announced the establishment of a "quantum computing patent pool" to build a solid "moat" for the development of China's quantum intellectual property.

Currently, the patent pool has gathered dozens of quantum patents, which are open for sharing among alliance members. It will build a cooperative bridge for alliance members and promote the formulation of industry standards and the layout of essential patents for quantum industry standards. At the same time, alliance members can speak with a unified voice through the patent pool, building a favorable intellectual property environment for the healthy development of the quantum computing industry. The patent pool will focus on seven major quantum industry areas, including quantum measurement and control, quantum security and encryption, quantum architecture and software, quantum error correction, quantum algorithms and applications.

It is reported that the number of invention patent applications in the quantum field in the Beijing area ranks first in the country, and the total number of invention patent applications in the quantum field by alliance members in Beijing accounts for 70%. As an alliance organization dedicated to quantum intellectual property, the alliance will promote the cultivation of high-value patents in the quantum field, cross-licensing of patents, and closer alignment of innovation entities with industry standards. It will also lay out key quantum patent areas and lead the efficient development of the entire quantum industry.
