Recently, the first-instance civil judgment of the dispute between the producer of Piggy Page (i.e., Astley Baker Davies Co., Ltd., Entertainment One UK Co., Ltd., etc.) and Guangzhou Lizhi Network Technology Co., Ltd. over infringement of the right to disseminate information of works over the Internet was published by court. 

Plaintiffs Astley Baker Davies Co., Ltd. and Entertainment One UK Co., Ltd. jointly filed a lawsuit with the court: the defendant Guangzhou Lizhi Network Technology Co., Ltd. shall compensate the two plaintiffs for economic losses and the reasonable expenses for investigating and prosecuting the defendants, totaling 1,172,500 yuan.

The defendant argued that all infringing voice programs were uploaded by users, the defendant had no legal obligation to take the initiative to examine the source of rights, and in no circumstance would the defendant fail to take measures while knowing the infringement fact. 

The court held that the defendant's statement was ill-founded and was not acceptable. The plaintiff enjoys complete copyright of the Piggy Page product. The defendant provided the public with the services to listen to audios of four seasons of Piggy Page on its mobile app "Litchi FM". Such behavior infringed the plaintiff's right to disseminate information on the Internet.

Combined with other factors such as the type of rights works involved in the case and the influence of the industry, the court finally ruled that the defendant Guangzhou Lizhi Network Technology Co., Ltd. should compensate the plaintiffs Astley Baker Davies Co., Ltd. and Entertainment One UK Co., Ltd. for a total of 78,000 yuan within ten days from the effective date of this judgment. The trial court is Guangzhou Internet Court.
