On June 16th, with the approval of the Supreme People's Court and Chongqing Municipal Committee, Chongqing Intellectual Property Court was officially inaugurated in Chongqing No. 1 Intermediate People's Court. According to the reply of the Supreme People's Court, the main jurisdiction of the Chongqing Intellectual Property Court covers the following intellectual property cases: 

(1) Civil and administrative cases of intellectual property rights of first instance involving patents, technical secrets, computer software, new varieties of plant, layout design of integrated circuits, disputes involving determination of well-known trademarks and monopoly within the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipality;

(2) Civil and administrative cases of intellectual property rights of first instance occurring within the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipality, except the jurisdiction of the grass-root courts;

(3) Appeals against civil cases of intellectual property rights of first instance tried by Chongqing Liangjiang New District Court (Chongqing Pilot Free Trade Zone Court) and appeals against civil, administrative and criminal cases of intellectual property rights of first instance tried by Chongqing Yuzhong District Court.
