China Launches Pilot Project to Implement International Standard for IP Management

Recently, the National Intellectual Property Administration (NIPA) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued a notice, deciding to organize and carry out a pilot project to implement the international standard for innovation management - intellectual property management. The notice pointed out that ISO 56005 international standard is the first IP management international standard proposed and promoted by China, and that the standard promotion and implementation work should be highly valued, using standardized means to improve IP management capabilities and innovation capabilities, and promoting the maximization of innovation value through high-level IP management.

The pilot project aims to: gradually achieve full coverage of the pilot project for implementing the international standard for innovation management among national IP advantage demonstration enterprises and specialized and innovative “small giant” enterprises within three years. The pilot enterprises will fully implement ISO 56005 international standard, integrate innovation management system with IP management system deeply, comprehensively improve the quality and efficiency of IP creation and utilization, significantly enhance innovation capabilities, emerge a number of innovation and IP integration management practice cases with demonstration effects, and cultivate a number of high-value core patents that support enterprise and industry innovation development.
