Full Text of Measures for Quick Examination of Trademark Registration (Trial) Released

On January 18, 2022, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) issued the full text of the Measures for Quick Examination of Trademark Registration (Trial), which will take effect as of the date of promulgation. 

In order to improve the trademark examination system, better meet the differentiated needs of market players and serve the high-quality development of economy and society, the CNIPA formulated the Measures for Quick Examination of Trademark Registration (Trial) (hereinafter referred to as the Measures), which was officially released on January 18th. 

It is mentioned in the Measures that an application for trademark registration under any of the following circumstances may request quick examination: 

(1) Registrations involving national or provincial major projects, major scientific and technological infrastructure, major events, major exhibitions and other names, and having urgent needs for protection; 

(2) Registrations directly related to the response to the public emergencies such as major natural disasters, major accidents and disasters, major public health incidents, and major social security incidents; 

(3) Registrations necessary to serve the high-quality development of the economy and society and promote the implementation of the Outline of Building a Powerful Country with Intellectual Property Rights; 

(4) Other registrations with great practical significance for safeguarding national interests, social public interests or major regional development strategies.
