Compiled by China Trademark Association under the guidance of the Department of Intellectual Property Right Use Promotion of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, the 2021 edition of the Trademark and Brand Development Index (TBDI) was recently released, in an aim to provide overall evaluation on development of trademark and brand in provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country. 

Evaluation shows that, Shandong, Zhejiang, Beijing, Jiangsu and Shanghai are at the top of the national rankings in TBDI in 2020. 

Though overall development of trademark brands in China looks promising, the imbalance of development among different regions remains a major issue. Economic powerhouse in southeast retains outstanding and ever growing advantages in promoting the use of trademarks and brands, upgrading quality and gaining benefits. Still, the central and western provinces have made remarkable progress in tapping the potential of trademark brands and optimizing the service environment.
