National Anti-Monopoly Bureau Formally Established

On November 18th, the State Anti-Monopoly Bureau was formally established.

In the institutional reform of the State Council in 2018, the anti-monopoly law enforcement work, originally undertaken by the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, was unified under the Anti-monopoly Bureau of the State Administration of Market Supervision, as an institution specially responsible for anti-monopoly law enforcement to undertake the daily work of the Anti-monopoly Committee of the State Council.

This year, the establishment of the State Anti-monopoly Bureau reflects the further improvement of the anti-monopoly system and mechanism by the state, and creates a fair, transparent and predictable competitive environment for various market entities to invest in the industry and standardize healthy development.

The total number of market entities in China has exceeded 150 million. Strengthening anti-monopoly and preventing disorderly expansion of capital are of more prominent significance for building a high-standard market system and realizing high-level opening to the outside world. The Chinese model of anti-monopoly law enforcement shows its promising prospect.
