China Copyright Protection Center Released Work Registration Data of First Half of 2021

According to the statistics, the number of works registered with China Copyright Protection Center has reached 255,913 in the first half of 2021. 

In view of the registration types, the art works registered in the center in the first half of 2021 accounted for 86% of the total registered works, works created by films and similar film production methods accounted for 5%, written works accounted for 4%, other works accounted for 2%, and works of other genres (drama works, oral works, music works, folk art works, dance works, acrobatic works, photography works, architectural works, graphic works, model works, audio and video products, etc.) account for 3%. Compared with the same period of last year, the number of registered works created by films and similar film production methods saw the most significant growth, with an increase of over 600%, while the art works increased by 155%, and other works increased by 188%. 

In the first half of 2021, domestic registration accounted for 97% of the total registration, while foreign registration accounted for 3%, which remained basically unchanged compared with the same period last year. Guangdong, Beijing and Zhejiang remained the top three areas for domestic registration. 

Japan and the United States remained the top two countries for foreign registration, while Denmark and South Korea tied for third place, and registration in Samoa saw significant increase. Compared with the same period of last year, the total number of foreign registrations increased by 82.7%, and the main types of registrations were art works, mostly brand logos and product designs.
