On April 23, 2021, China's 17 film and television industry associations, 54 film and television companies, 5 video platforms and 524 practitioners jointly issued the Proposal, which put forward five specific initiatives for copyright protection of film and television works, and called on short video platforms, creators and rights holders to take practical actions to protect film and television content and promote the development of the industry.

With the continuous development of short videos in recent years, a large number of unauthorized editing, cutting, handling and dissemination of film and television works had emerged, which have damaged the rights and interests of the obligee. This promotes calls on short video platforms and public account producers and operators to enhance copyright awareness and jointly form an industry ecology of "authorization before use". The "Joint Statement" has aroused widespread concern from all walks of life. From June 1, China's new "Copyright Law" will soon come into effect, and we will expect a more strict protection on film and television copyright.
